Advancing circular innovation for the wind industry

Our Innovation Centre, located in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, is where engineering expertise, research capability and circular thinking come together to solve complex turbine component challenges. Purpose built to support inspection, development and technical validation, the centre plays a critical role in extending asset life, reducing cost and accelerating sustainable alternatives to replacement.

Turning challenges into engineered solutions

We work hands on with customers, operators and partners to investigate failures, trial refurbishment routes and develop upgrade solutions that improve reliability in the field. Every project is driven by data, engineering rigour and commercial practicality.

Core capabilities include:

  • Reverse engineering of obsolete or high value components

  • Failure analysis and root cause investigation

  • Refurbishment and remanufacture trials

  • Upgrade and life extension design

  • Materials assessment and performance testing

Benefits of our Innovation Centre

Research, collaboration and development

The Innovation Centre strengthens collaboration across the renewable energy supply chain. By working with academic institutions, industry bodies and technology partners, we accelerate new repair methodologies and validate sustainable alternatives to OEM replacement.

Supporting reliability and sustainability

Every innovation delivered through the centre is focused on practical customer outcomes. Whether reducing downtime, lowering total cost of ownership or cutting embodied carbon, our work directly supports more reliable and sustainable wind operations.

Developing the next generation of engineers

Our Innovation Centre also plays a vital role in nurturing future talent through our Modern and Graduate apprenticeship programmes. By embedding apprentices within live engineering and remanufacturing projects, we provide hands on experience that goes far beyond classroom learning.

Future focussed engineering

As global wind fleets mature, the need for refurbishment innovation and sustainable supply solutions continues to grow. Our Innovation Centre ensures we remain at the forefront of component life extension, supporting the energy transition through engineering excellence and circular innovation.
