After taking a short break in January, our "Meet The Team" series returns. This month meet our marvelous marketeer Hannah as she discusses her split role within RPL and why she joined us.
You can already learn more about the team on our about us page where a short bio and picture will give you a quick peek behind the curtain to see who’s making the magic happen at RPl, but for a bigger insight into our world we’re releasing monthly blogs on our website & social medias centred around getting to know a different member of the Renewable Parts team in each post.
We kicked off the series in late 2018, so make sure you go back and find out more about the team members already interviewed!
How long have you been at Renewable Parts and what is your role?
I joined RPL in February 2016, so 3 years ago this month!
I have a split role at RPL; overseeing our Marketing and assisting in Accounts.
What does your average day entail?
As my role is split, I don’t really have an ‘average’ day. On the marketing side I’m responsible for all things creative; covering everything from our website and social media, to brochures, news articles and attendance at events. On the accounts side things are a bit more structured as I deal with our supplier accounts; this entails a lot of data inputting and reconciliation … which probably sounds boring but it’s not!
You'll often find me sharing my office space with Rufus the Jack Russell, one of our friendly canine colleagues who loves to nap on my chair (whether I'm on it or not).
Why did you choose to work at Renewable Parts?
After completing a degree in Marketing it was important to me to work for a progressive, ethical, fast paced SME with real potential; RPL proved to be the perfect fit. Their forward-looking approach was an initial attraction, and after reading my CV they chose to adapt the scope of my job offer to best utilise my pre-existing knowledge and experience, a personal approach which definitely helped to ‘seal the deal’ for me. Not only did RPL offer ambitious growth plans, but also a keen interest in fostering professional development and a great company culture to go with it.
What is your favourite part of the job?
I’m not sure I can pick just one!
I have never seen the appeal of being just another number on a payroll, and whilst it’s not always easy being a small team, I love having such a varied and crucial role. The company culture has always felt more like a family and the team are always willing to go above and beyond for each other and our customers which makes it a great environment to work in too.
It’s wonderful seeing first hand how much RPL has grown in such a relatively short space of time (when I started there were just 6 of us, now we’re approx. 15) and whilst we know we put our hearts and souls into all we do, external recognition of our achievements always feels amazing. Despite winning several awards last year, my 2018 highlight was definitely the surprise win of Most Outstanding Business at the Glasgow Business Awards!
I’m always excited to see what comes our way next and look forward to seeing what the future holds for RPL.
What 3 words would you use to describe the culture at Renewable Parts?
friendly, responsive, dedicated
When you are not working hard at Renewable Parts what are you most likely to be doing?
I love to curl up with a good book, although I seem to spend most of my spare time with my housemates and my boyfriend so I can usually be found either trying out new spots in the West End, or having a quiet games/ film night in. I’ve also been known to frequent the Glasgow salsa scene and have been to an eclectic range of gigs since moving to from our Argyll office in 2017. I’m a huge fan of travelling and the outdoors so one of my favourite things to do on a weekend is to borrow a dog and go for a long walk to explore somewhere new.
